The plays themselves are accessible to a wide range of ages; include helpful Bible teaching, a good dose of humour, and are always visually engaging and interactive for the children.
The group all really enjoy working with the puppets, meeting the children and their teachers, and bringing the teachings of the Bible into the schools.
The team always looks to deliver these highly entertaining and engaging presentations into all of their schools at least once a term.
Delivering Bible stories through puppets
Our Story
Shepherd's Crook Puppets was set up in October 2001 following a gift of some life size puppets from an American group visiting Primary schools in Lichfield. The group started with three puppeteers, and later increased to four.
The Puppets are used to act out well-known Bible stories through the medium of plays. The scripts are written by Sally Hayter, one of the puppeteers who herself is a storywriter and author. The groups repertoire of plays includes creation plays, plays based on Old Testament characters such as Daniel, Jonah, Gideon, David and Goliath and the Gospel of Jesus.
